BENEFITING: Perkins School For The Blind
ORGANIZER: Perkins School For The Blind
EVENT: Boston Marathon 2014
EVENT DATE: Apr 21, 2014
I was born in to a running family and watched my uncles and father run many races, including the Boston Marathon. My cousins and I would cheer and enjoy the comradarie post-race, and soon found ourselves running, too.
Now, over 30 years of my own running, 9 marathons and a half Ironman, I learned a lot through running and sports. I felt my father and uncles had given me a gift—the love of running—and I was able to make excellent use of this gift. I have created running and nutrition programs for children, and encouraged others to participate in sports and running.
The 2014 Boston Marathon is about more than just a running race. It’s about the unshakable group of people who run 26.2 miles every year on Patriots Day, the community that supports them and the city that refuses to back down. I am thrilled to have another opportunity to cross the finish line as part of Team Perkins this year. As the campus dietitan at Perkins, I not only want to help provide better nutrition and help students make better choices, but also raise funds to purchase the much-needed supports our diverse population needs to learn and achieve what most of us may take for granted.
Here’s the part where you can help! Click the yellow DONATE button on the left hand side of this page and give whatever you can. All donated money will go directly to Perkins and every little bit helps!
Thank you again for your support, and I will see you at the finish line!
