BENEFITING: Perkins School For The Blind
ORGANIZER: Perkins School For The Blind
EVENT: 2015 Boston Marathon
EVENT DATE: Apr 20, 2015
Hello my name is Michael Pascento and along with Jack Lenihan, a former student from my school, we will be raising funds for Team Perkins.
Jack is an amazing young man who was born with Albinism. He benefits from the services that Perkins and the camps that Perkins have to offer. Jack says "I like going to the Perkins camps because they help me to learn more about myself and I get to spend time with other kids that understand what it's like to live with a visual disability". Over the last 8 years I have had the privilege of getting to know not only Jack, but his parents Richard and Dorinda, and his younger sister Casey.
As a result of his Albinism, Jack faces and meets many challenges that so many of us would never even consider. Albinism has impacted Jack's vision and makes certain accommodations necessary for him to reach his full potential in the academic setting. Jack not only meets these challenges head on, he excels. Over the years he has played football and has developed an interest in running.
Jack was featured in an advertisement for Perkins in Runners' World Magazine last spring.
Along with his family, I am extremely proud of the young man Jack is becoming. He is an intelligent person and is becoming more willing to share about his life and just who he is as a person.
I can not think of a better opportunity to empower Jack to be an advocate for not only Perkins, but for albinism, and everyone who suffers from any level of vision loss.
Please consider donating to Perkins in recognition of Jack....I look forward to pounding the pavement in his honor.
