Personal Hygiene Packages for Homeless Shelter
Organized by: Michelle Strassburg
I am raising money in support of local 8th graders who are putting together personal hygiene packages for residents of a local homeless shelter in Glendale.
I saw those 8th graders at a Kiwanis meeting last month and they inspired me to do this. I would be so grateful if each of you would contribute something to this project. Any contribution will show the students that we care and applaud them. The goal is to raise $2,000. Once the money is collected, I will be purchasing and delivering the products to the students so they can package and take them personally to the shelter.
Here are further details:
The 8th graders (pictured) are members of the Kiwanis Builders Club of La Canada High School. They are collecting personal hygiene products to package and prepare kits to deliver to the residents of Ascencia, a homeless shelter in Glendale, California (www.ascenciaca.org). Ascencia’s mission is to end homelessness in the greater Glendale area, one person, one family at a time.
Staying clean is part of a daily struggle for thousands of women, men and children who live on the streets. Every year, 30% of Ascencia’s shelter residents are children. Developing and keeping a good standard of hygiene is not only essential to the health of any individual but important for society as a whole.
What I like about this project is that it’s not just a quick fix but part of an overall effort to help homeless children develop good hygiene habits and families become self-sufficient and integrate back into society.
Please be part of this project and let’s show support for these awesome 8th graders!
