Peru Clean Water and Health Awareness Service Trip
Organized by: Shreena Desai
EVENT DATE Jul 10, 2016
We are 4 medical students: Shreena, Priyanka, Ali, and Lauren, who want to spend our summer immersed in understanding healthcare disparities, infrastructure, and public health issues facing people of the Amazon in Cusco and Huacaria, Peru. We are partnering up with Rainforest Flow, a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering indigenous people by promoting health, education and community organization so they can flourish within their traditional homelands and way of life.
Any and all donations are appreciated! We want to leave the people of Huacaria with running water tanks and toilets for the school children!
Rainforest Flow Mission: We work to promote an exchange of knowledge among indigenous villages that enables individuals, communities, and inter-community organizations to defend their lands and traditions from outside economic interests, encroachment and cultural erosion.
Rainforest Flow Vision: Rainforest Flow will serve as a global model to promote the preservation of tropical forest ecosystems and the health and cultural integrity of indigenous peoples in the Amazon and throughout the world. Its programs will pilot replicable models to address life-threatening water and sanitation problems that face three billion people of our world. http://www.rainforestflow.org/index.html
