Organized by: Adrienne/Caitlin
EVENT DATE Oct 16, 2014
FIRST: Our goal is to raise $10 from 100 people.
Here is what we plan to do with any funds donated:
We leave for LA October 19th, and fly out of LAX to Lima on the 21st. We have our flights bought, and we have taken care of supplies needed while in Peru (including art and school supplies for the young children and families we meet). We just need help with local Peruvian transportation. Our journey begins in Lima, from there we fly to Cusco. After exploring and connecting with local people in the surrounding areas of Cusco and the Sacred Valley, we will then make our way to Machu Picchu. Our hopes are to take a train to Arequipa next and over to the coast, all the while interacting and learning about the people we meet, documentary stories, tales and history, taking photos and recording raw music. From Arequipa to the coast, it will require a bus. Lastly, the cost getting back to Lima. This roughly is a little over $1,000 if it is split evenly for the two of us. However, anything helps and is seriously beyond and exceedingly appreciated. If you have any questions for more information on what our goal is, what our future projections for this project are or anything before donating, please do not hesitate to email us and ask.
Here is a little about us:
My name is Caitlin. I am going to Peru with a dear friend. We met while taking courses towards an MA in Art Therapy and Counseling. While sharing our aspirations of exploring Peru, we have recently decided to take the leap. I have been in Santa Fe for one year now and already my life has changed dramatically. I am no longer teaching art, or going to school for Art Therapy but singing rock n’ roll and blues all over Santa Fe with the help of some awesome musicians. Realizing how influential music, in particular, singing, has been in shaping who I am and my connection with others, I want to immerse myself in the Peruvian culture. Different parts of the world have influenced my style greatly including: Morocco, Ireland, Italy, Costa Rica, Prague, Puerto Rico, Germany, Canada, Panama, Spain and France. Peru will show me something different, fresh and equally inspiring as I join my passion for music and my joy of photography together.
My name is Adrienne and yes, we are dear friends for sure! After living in Portland, OR I made my way down to Santa Fe pursuing a Master's in Art Therapy with a focus on Narrative and Families. I have lived here a year and nine months now. And, this past January I took a leave from school. The last eight and a half months have not only been eye opening but some of the most beautiful times of my life. This break has rekindled my deep love for adventure and writing, while photography, circus arts, connecting, sharing and laughing with my community have been extremely influential in personal growth. Though I have never ventured outside the United States, I would love to see my efforts blossom and continue in Peru. My curiosity for story and the opportunity to be engaged in a different culture will be a vital foundation for my career into the world of Multi-Cultural Art Therapy.
This is just the beginning!
With big love and great thanks,
Adrienne and Caitlin
