Pete's 100 Miles for the Phil Guza Memorial Scholarship
On September 24, 2016 I'll be running the Flagstaff to Grand Canyon Stagecoach Line 100 Mile race to support a cause very close to my heart: the Phil Guza Memorial Scholarship. Raising $10,000 in donations for the Scholarship will ensure the ongoing support offered to math and science students.
**DONATIONS are suggested through PayPal or by check to eliminate/reduce fees, but you can certainly donate through CrowdRise as well. I will manually post all donations on this site noting amount, donor, and comment if desired. Thank you so much!

Established by me and Tom to commemorate our father Phil’s honor and values through time, the Phil Guza Memorial Charitable Trust was founded in 2010 to benefit deserving children driven to pursue a higher education. The first disbursement under the Trust, The Phil Guza Memorial Scholarship, focuses on aiding students interested in seeking a bachelor’s degree in math or science. My father was a gifted mathematician working as an insurance executive at Aon Risk Services on the 105th floor of World Trade Center Tower Two on the morning of September 11th, 2001 when he fell victim to terrorist attacks. We remember him fondly and offer scholarships each spring to outstanding high school graduates we're extremely proud to support. The Phil Guza Memorial Charitable Trust and Scholarship is recognized as a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt non-profit organization, and donations are tax deductible to the extent of the law.
This will be my first attempt at a 100 mile ultramarathon, building on a dozen marathons, 50K ultras, and 50 mile ultra distance events over the past 5 years. Supporting this great cause will provide me with the motivaiton to meet the challenge, and I'll have support along the course from my brother Tom as he leads a 55K relay team at the same event.
Updates to the Fundraiser and the event itself will be posted to our Facebook page, including the execution of running 100 miles of Arizona Trail through 7,000 feet of climbing within 30 hours in honor of Phil. Thank you so much for your support!
