Former Bait Dog "Petey" was given new hope for the first time in his life when he was rescured from Carson Country Shelter. After almost losing his eye and with many scars to heal (physically and emotionally), Petey was on the road to recovery. One month after being rescued, one woman was able to see past the scars, past his former life and right into the heart of gold within the dog. For the first time ever, Petey was going to learn what love, safety and security really meant.
His furever mom took care of his allergies and his skin irritations, worked with trainers and friends, and today Petey is a lovable, goofy "puppy" who loves to play in the grass and watch Food Network. His fear of dogs has subsided and his love of humans only grows with each day.
Recently 2 lumps were found on his hind leg. Upon further tests, the lumps were diagnosed as Mass Cell Tumors. Upon further testing (staging), 2 more enlarged lymph nodes, 2 more Mass Cells and an enlarge prostate were also discovered. Being his mother was unemployed the past few months finaces have been tight. While she can afford some of the medical bills, she needs some help. And that's why this CrowdRise page has been established—to give Petey the second chance he deserves.
Petey is home from a massive surgery. Upon his recovery, Petey will be enrolled in a program in Los Angeles that will help children with their reading skills. He has also become a "spokesdoggie" for former bait dogs. With a lot of love he has really blossmed into an amazing pup and his mother hopes he gets to experience all that life has to offer him.
