Nearly 8 years ago, I adopted the cutest, friendliest, most playful kitten that I've ever had the pleasure of knowing. Tessie was being fostered by a friend who volunteers for Pets In Need, a Somerville-based animal shelter, and I couldn't resist her outgoing personality. She has proved to be a loyal and loving pet through the years and our family wouldn't be the same without her.
At the time of Tessie's adoption, Pets In Need had a physical location, but also used volunteers' homes as needed. I recently learned that a lack of funds has forced the organization to surrender their facility and rely solely on volunteers to foster the pets until they are adopted. A few other facts that make this organization so special are:
• All donations and adoption fees go directly to the animals.
• Pets In Need is strictly no-kill
• The organization's main goal is to take in animals from other rescues and shelters that are going to be euthanized as a result of behavior problems, overpopulated shelters, or financial burden - Pets In Need saves animals who cannot be properly cared for.
Please help me raise funds for this cause and enable more innocent animals to find happy homes!
