Last year I was matched through IR4 to an amazing girl, Peyton. She has mitochondrial disease and has inspired every run, every mile, every time I lace up I think about her. I wanted to inspire her, but instead, she has inspired me. I want to take that a step further and help raise funds to funds to extend research efforts and medical technology at the Translational Genomics Research Institute. TGen is currently working on quicker ways to diagnose mitochondrial disease as well as hopeful possibilities of treatments for mito.
The TGen foundation is a non profit biomedical research center currently working on ways to help families with mitochondrial disease. This research fund was set up through TGen by Peyton's parents in honor of their children, Peyton and Caelum who live with mitochondrial disease, in order to help them raise money for research pertaining to future treatments and hopefully a cure.
