EVENT DATE: Nov 02, 2014
On 2 November 2014, I ran in the 2014 TCS New York City Marathon to raise funds for the children of the Department of Pediatrics of the Philippine General Hospital. My target was to raise US$10,000. As of race day morning, around US$8,500 of pledges (mostly from the Philippines) were made. With your generosity, I hope that the orginal target can still be met.
The Philippine General Hospital ("PGH") is a goverment operated hospital in Manila. It caters primarily to indigents who have no alternative access to healthcare. Getting decent medical attention is expensive and out of reach for many who live in the Philippines. Many of those who live under the poverty line rely on institutions like the PGH for their primary health care needs.
At any given time, there are 200 children at the Department of Pediatrics of the PGH. It costs roughly about 500 Pesos (roughly US$12) a day to maintain each child until the resources needed for the required procedure becomes available.
Thanks to the support and generosity of the Philippine-American Association of Connecticut, Inc. all donations from the United States shall be tax-free. The Philippine-American Association of Connecticut, Inc. shall then remit your donations directly to The Child Health in Life and Development (CHILD) Foundation Inc. (http://www.childfoundationinc.org.ph), a non-governmental institution that raises donations for the Department of Pediatrics of the PGH.
You may contact me directly at firstname.lastname@example.org or Dr. Monette Faner, the Chief Resident of the Department of Pediatrics at email@example.com
Thank you for your kind generosity!
