After 7 wonderful summers operating Project Harmony Israel in Jerusalem, CAMP IS EXPANDING! We are delighted to announce that this summer we will be launching camp at a second site at Hand in Hand's Wadi Ara school. And now more than ever, we need your help. Please donate to our campaign and help us share the incredible Hand in Hand/Project Harmony community with even more families!
Can't afford to donate? Or want to get involved in a different way? We are still recruiting volunteers for both sites. Contact Grace at firstname.lastname@example.org to learn more!
ABOUT HAND IN HAND: Hand in Hand's vision is to create vibrant and inclusive shared society in Israel through a network of integrated bilingual schools and organized community activities that bring together Jewish and Arab citizens on a daily basis. In Hand in Hand’s schools and communities, Jews and Arabs interact daily in an environment of equality and mutual respect. They learn each other’s languages, traditions and histories and openly grapple with difficult societal and cultural issues in a safe and respectful environment. They learn civic responsibility and the importance of actively working together for social change. They also understand the complexities of a shared Israeli society and the importance of dialogue between Jews and Arabs. What began with two first grade classes in 1998, has now grown into a network of 6 schools with over 1,320 students. Over the next 10 years, Hand in Hand aims to create a network of 10-15 integrated bilingual schools, which will be supported and enhanced by organized community activities, altogether involving more than 20,000 Jewish and Arab Israeli citizens. This movement will set the stage for a genuine shared society in Israel.
ABOUT PHI: Project Harmony Israel (PHI) is an initiative of the Hand in Hand schools, a key part of the work of the communities department. Each summer PHI hosts English language immersion camps that build lasting relationships by offering a wide variety of daily activities, including fine arts, music, athletics, teambuilding, community gardening, American Sign Language, and English games. Campers go on weekly field trips and also host guest teachers to lead week-long workshops. Every summer, PHI hosts a community event in which we invite families, friends and community members to join us in celebrating our campers' remarkable achievements.
