Philadelphia LGBT Hate Crime

Organized by: Michael James

On September 11, 2014 two gay males in their late 20's, boyfriends, were brutally attacked by a group of 10-12 men and women late in the evening in downtown Philadelphia.  The attackers were screaming "you dirty f****t, you dirty f****t," as they held the victims and beat them unconscious.  The two boys were rushed to the emergency room where they were treated with emergency surgery.

When I read the story I was so disgusted I felt nauseous.  "This could have been me, this could have been any of my friends."  As a society, we are better than this.  These boys have been through a horrific experience, the last thing they need is to also bear the financial burden associated with these random acts of violence.  This fundraising is to help ease that burden, show them support, and help them get through this difficult time.

Regardless of what insurance you have, events like this become expensive. Whether it's time off work for doctor's appointments or the expenses associated with on-going recovery, the costs associated with a brutal attack like this are going to be high. Let's come together - gay, straight, and everything in between - to show our support for these boys and help them put their lives back on track. Show the world that we will not tolerate hate crimes of any sort.
