Dan's mother, Marlene Fowler, is a breast cancer survivor. We are both beyond grateful for the medical staff that were able to help her win her battle with cancer. We are also very thankful for the multitude of organizations that research and fund research searching for a cure for cancer. While it is critical to find a cure for cancer, our personal experience with cancer taught us that both the individual going through treatment, as well as their family needs as much support as possible to make it through one of the most difficult times in their lives.
We are running in the 2011 Philadelphia Marathon (Dan) and Half Marathon (Melissa) in support of Canswerlink, a non-profit organization which helps cancer patients and their families live more manageable lives by providing a free montly non-toxic house cleaning service while the individual undergoes treatment. When you are told that either you or a family member has been diagnosed with cancer, your priorities make an immediate shift.. House cleaning can often fall to the very bottom of the list of priorities. Canswerlink's free services provide families with a non-toxic, clean home, which often can lift the patient's and family's spirits and improve mental health, which is crucial in a total mind and body recovery.
Please donate to this cause. It will immediately go towards helping somebody that truly needs it.
