PhilaSoup is an all-volunteer run nonprofit committed to supporting classroom teachers and students from all across sectors in Philadelphia. We support teachers from public, private, parochial, and charter schools in doing great work with their students by providing them microgrants of up to $599.
PhilaSoup hosts tri-annual community soup meals where we learn about the projects of innovative teachers who are selected to present their ideas to our attendees; together, we vote on who will receive grants of various sizes, based on their proposed impact. The grants are comprised of our ticket sales for the event, as well as PhilaSoup's matching of up to $500 for each event. Our events provide vital funds directly to local teachers, while creating a supportive family of educators and the broader Philadelphia community.
Why we're fundraising
In order to provide over $5,000 of grants each year, we at PhilaSoup work extremely hard to keep our overhead low and to fundraise effectively so that our teachers walk away with as much funding for their dream projects as possible. This year, we as a board of volunteers are setting an ambitious goal of raising $5,000 before our programmatic year begins, so that we know that we can get close to our own dream of fully funding every teacher who presents at our Soup events.
What your donation supports
Your donation - whether it is $5, or $500 - goes directly into the hands of teachers, to do great things with their students. Every penny counts, and we are so thankful to you for supporting our work at PhilaSoup, and most importantly the wonderful work of Philadelphia teachers.
