In 2013 I developed a Charlie Horse in my leg. I was training for a marathon and I pushed through the pain. Several weeks later I came home from work with a terrible pain in my chest. I went to the hospital and told them I thought I might be having a heart attack. They ran all types of tests and said nothing was showing up. The ER doctor said he was going run another test. The test showed that I had a Pulminary Embolism (PE) in both of my lungs. Relieved I wasn't having a heart attack, I had no idea how serious a PE is. I went on blood thinners for 9 months. 6 months later it happened again. This time I knew immediately and went straight the ER. I am fully recovered now and will be on blood thinners forever.
I am running on the Stop the Clot team to raise money and awareness of blood clots. I have run nearly 40 marathons and as two time survivor of PE's ,I felt compelled to do this.
Please give what you can and educated yourself of the symptoms of a blood clot. 1 in 3 people with PE's don't survive. It wasn't my time twice!
Thanks in advance
