As anyone who knows me is already aware- I have spent a great deal of my adult life in and around Waldorf schools. It is a way of viewing the world, viewing young humans as they grow and working with the real humanity in each other that I passionately believe in. It is something I found long before having children, as a young teacher just out of college and though, this is what I want for my kids someday.
Fast forward many years and we arrive at that someday. My kids have grown up in and around the Philly Waldorf community and it has a lot to do with who they are and who they are becoming. My career is here too and it has a lot to do with who I have become. This school is our home and our starting point in the lives we will live from here on out.
After many years in a school property with limited prospects for growth, we are planting roots in Germantown, Philadelphia. We have a lease with the opportunity to purchase the school in 10 years to make it a home of our own.
To ensure that we can own it in 2025, we aim to raise $150,000 by July 31, 2015. We need your help!
Every dollar you give reduces our developer’s capital investment and we benefit immediately by lowering our rent (up to $50,000/year if we raise our full goal of $500,000).
We have already raised $350,000 from generous members of our community. And now we need to raise another $150,000 from our families, friends, neighbors, believers, those beyond our immediate circles, and everyone in between.
We need your help. Please give by July 31, 2015! I really believe in helping to secure the basis of this school for many other families and children in Philadelphia. Please help if you can- even if it is only a little bit.
