Pierce Park HomeTown Holiday Tree Replacement Fundraiser
Organized by: Chelsea Girl Scout Troops 42801 and 41097
Please donate to a great cause! Even if you can only contribute $1, every little bit helps!
We are hoping to raise $525 to remove and replace (with a full-grown healthy tree) the Pierce Park / Hometown Holiday Christmas Tree that is diseased and dying (picture attached). Chelsea Girl Scout troops 42801 (9th gr) and 41097 (7th gr) are coordinating this effort. The two Chelsea Girl Scout troops saw the need and met with Chelsea's City Manager, John Hanifan, who has approved and supports this community service project.
The dying tree is the one by the Gazebo in Pierce Park that our community uses for the tree-lighting ceremony which kicks-off the Hometown Holiday weekend. Many wonderful memories are created each year from the all-community Christmas-carol sing alongside Company C; our annual celebration tradition!
This project fits in perfectly with the older Girl Scouts’ "Sow What" Journey badge (how food and plant's carbon footprint affects our environment-) and the younger Girl Scouts’ "Media" Journey badge (how social media can be used and how it affects girls in the world). This fulfills the “Take-Action” project that each badge requires.
If donating online is not your thing, another upcoming event to raise money is a Bowling fundraiser on Friday - May 20th 6:00-8:30 at Chelsea Lanes. Come one, come all! Pizza, pop and bowling are included in $10 donation per person (SEE ATTACHED FLYER).
--Our many thanks to Traveling Trees for reducing their costs so we have a reachable goal!
--Thank you Chelsea Lanes for sponsoring the bowling fundraiser!
--Thank you Chelsea Chamber of Commerce who initiated the meeting with the City Manager, John Hanifan (thank you too!)
--Thank you in advance for your support!
