BENEFITING: PITCH IN FOR BASEBALL
On August 25th, 2017, Hurricane Harvey made landfall on the coast of Houston, Texas. About two weeks later, Hurricane Irma tore through the Caribbean and made landfall in south Florida. The category 4 storms devastated Houston and Florida, flooding homes and displacing millions of people who have lost everything. Though the road to recovery is long, we know here at PIFB that baseball and softball have healing powers for kids, parents, and coaches alike in the aftermath of tragedy. The sports can help to restore a sense of normalcy amidst the chaos. PIFB is raising funds to ensure that kids can take the field in their upcoming season and help leagues begin rebuilding their baseball and softball programs after losing everything . Previous disaster relief projects that PIFB has assisted with are the NY/NJ shoreline following Hurricane Sandy; Joplin, MO; the Gulf Coast region after Hurricane Katrina; Houston, West Virginia and Louisiana after major flooding hit in 2016; and Japan.
