Pitch In For Baseball® (PIFB) is a registered 501(c)(3) not for profit organization that provides new and gently used baseball and softball equipment to boys and girls in the United States and around the world who want to play ball but lack the equipment to do so. PIFB reduces barriers to play and promotes youth development by providing equipment directly to leagues, schools, and organizations around the world to start, continue, and/or expand their programs. Our business model provides a vehicle for children/families/individuals to recycle their gear to pass along to children who cannot easily access proper and safe equipment. This is the very heart of PIFB. Grassroots donations enables PIFB to be the connector, the trusted partner for ensuring that it goes where it’s needed most. Over the past decade, PIFB has donated more than $4 million worth of equipment to 500,000 under-resourced kids in nearly every state in the U.S. and 90 different countries internationally. PIFB helps get kids on the field through four core efforts:

  • Domestic and International Equipment Grants – PIFB equipment grants are available year-round and are designed to help leagues, teams, and community organizations around the globe get the equipment needed to play baseball or softball.  Grantees complete required annual reporting detailing the impact of our donation.  PIFB averages 200+ projects each year
  • School Based Program – PIFB helps schools and districts to continue or expand their baseball and/or softball programs and stretch limited budgets.  PIFB has been partnering with the School District of Philadelphia since 2008. The project has grown from just 6 teams at its inception to 60+ teams these past 2 seasons. PIFB is replicating this model in Minneapolis/St. Paul school districts in Minnesota, helping 15 programs in its inaugural year.
  • Disaster Relief Program – In times of tragedy, children are the most affected.  Baseball can help to restore a sense of normalcy amidst the chaos.   PIFB has helped to rebuild entire leagues and thousands of kids to start their seasons on time. PIFB has assisted with relief efforts in NY/NJ shoreline following Hurricane Sandy; Joplin, MO; the Gulf Coast region; and Japan.
  • Kids Helping Kids: Youth Philanthropy – About 70% of the equipment PIFB has available for distribution comes from the efforts of motivated, caring kids who run collections and fundraisers on PIFB’s  behalf.
