In 2014, the country of Liberia was devastated by the deadly outbreak of Ebola. The already delicate healthcare system was further debilitated by this crisis. Among the most affected by this crisis were mothers and children who already did not have access to the proper healthcare. This resulted in maternal mortality rates climbing to 1,072 per 100,000 live-births.
The We Will Deliver! campaign seeks to rectify this high mortality statistic, by raising money for the Pleebo Health Center in Maryland County, Liberia. Maryland County is home to a population of 160,000 people. By raising funds for a new maternity ward and stronger healthcare system, we can double the health center’s capacity for safe deliveries.
Partners in Health arrived in Liberia in 2014, with a promise to the community for a better future. The We Will Deliver! campaign gives us the opportunity to deliver on that promise. Together, we can pave the road to give these mothers and children the to the proper healthcare they deserve.
