Partners In Health is known for not only helping with medical relief efforts during epidemics and disasters, but also for rebuilding and strengthening health systems so everyone can access healthcare when they need it. The work and mission of PIH aligns closely with my fundamental beliefs, including that health is a human right and I hope to dedicate my life to providing medical service where it is needed most. I am excited to be involved in Harvard's chapter of PIH Engage. We are fundraising for the expansion of the Pleebo Health Center in Liberia as part of our long-term goal in aiding the Reach Every Child and Mother Act to reach a zero maternal mortality rate. You can read more about this online: http://www.pih.org/priority-programs/womens-health. The money we raise will go to buying bed nets, Mama Baby kits, food packages and supplements, salaries for university trained midwives, and additional post-partum beds. Our contributions will really help improve this clinic and will get us closer to reaching our goal of lowering maternal mortality. Any amount could make a huge impact on the community in Liberia. Just $15 covers the cost of a Mama Baby Kit, encouraging safe-facility based births, while amounts up to $1700 covers the salary of a university trained midwife for 6 months. Thank you so much for support.
