This year I decided that I wanted to become more involved in an organization at UGA. Luckily I found Partners in Health Engage. Partners in Health Engage UGA is a relatively new organization on campus, where global health problems meets public awareness. I have taken on the role of Personal Fundraising lead. I am absolutely thrilled to be apart of this organization and to help spread awareness of global health problems that exist today. Initally I wanted to enter the health field, however I chose to enter the realm of education. PIH Engage is the happy balance between both of these fields for me. I’ve found that this organization allows me to combine health care with education- both of which I have always been passionate about. In addition, with PIH I am able to see and enact direct change into people's lives.
This November we are focusing on our We Will Deliver fundraising campaign. We Will Deliver is focused towards improving and providing maternal healthcare within Liberia. Women in Pleebo, Liberia and surrounding areas are able to receive care at the New Pleebo Health Center. With this campaign we are working specifically to reach our goal of $6000, which is enough money to provide two post partum beds in the health center that serves over 100,000 people.
