Hey guys! I’m part of UGA’s Partners in Health Engage Chapter, and we just launched our We Will Deliver fundraising campaign that will run until November 28th! This campaign is aimed at supporting the expansion of access to child and maternal health care at the New Pleebo Health Center in southeastern Liberia. In 2014, Ebola struck Liberia wrecking havoc on the country’s already fragile health system and reversed years of hard-won progress in maternal and child health. Today, Liberia’s maternal mortality is one of the highest in the world at 1072 deaths per 100,000 live births.
As a freshman entering UGA, I was uncertain of what career path would interest me. I knew I wanted something related to health care, but did not want to take the pre-med route. I realized majoring in public health would allow me to pursue my passion in health care while allowing my work to have a lasting impact on a community. The PIH organization at UGA allows me to directly pursue my passion by helping improve global health through fundraising, community building, and advocacy.
This year, our team promised to raise $6000 for the community in Liberia, but we will need help to get to this, that’s why we are reaching out to you! My personal goal is $300, and any contribution is helpful! Help us deliver on our promise! Thank you for supporting this cause
