BENEFITING: Anxiety and Depression Association of America
Hi, my name is Danny Pine.
Right now, over 40 million people in the United States have an anxiety disorder and another 21 million have some type of mood disorder. However, as a scientist and a child psychiatrist, I see firsthand how science benefits patients every day.
Integrating biological and psychological sciences, building bridges across generations, disciplines and disorders and bringing together those in research and practice are critical to improve treatment and find cures. This is what the Anxiety and Depression Association of America (ADAA) has worked to do throughout its history.
Being at ADAA's annual conference this April was exhilarating! I think the highlight for me was witnessing a new generation of researchers be presented with various awards, which reminded me of receiving the Young Investigator Research Award from the ADAA back in 1999. In addition, seeing students interacting with their mentors - and their mentors' mentors - demonstrates a fantastic achievement for ADAA. It was also exciting to see researchers and clinicians from across disciplines come together to share and discuss new and novel ways to improve our treatments.
In sum, the ADAA represents an incredible network and I want to make sure it is here for generations to come. Our contributions today will help support the ADAA in their mission to promote the prevention, treatment, and cure of anxiety, depression, and stress-related disorders through education, practice, and research.
Please make a gift today to continue ADAA's efforts! Or better yet, why not join my team in the fight against anxiety and depression?!
