Pink Tutus for a Cure 2014
Organized by: Pink Tutus for a Cure
EVENT DATE Sep 27, 2014
Pink Tutus for a Cure is an annual silent auction fundraising event that was founded in 2012 by Danny Espinoza and Scott Chambers. The third annual fundraising event will take place on September 27, 2014 at Black Olive in Armory Square from 12 to 4 PM. All proceeds are proudly donated to the Carol M. Baldwin Breast Cancer Research Fund of CNY, Inc. This fund focuses on providing grants to Upstate Medical University for breast cancer research.
Danny and Scott created Pink Tutus for a Cure in response to learning that their coworker and friend Renee had been diagnosed with breast cancer. The staff of Black Olive found that they had many women in their lives that had been affected by breast cancer. They decided to take a personal stand by taking the time and effort to hold a fundraiser to lift Renee’s spirits and honor the memories of their loved ones who has passed away from breast cancer. In 2012 they held their first silent auction fundraiser. Renee started her chemotherapy and additional treatments shortly after that first event.
It was amazing for all of us to watch the strength and courage that Renee exhibited as she continued to raise her son, work a forty hour work week, work her second job at the Black Olive as an award winning bartender, and go through cancer treatment! Renee has recovered beautifully and we could not be more proud of her. We want to make our silent auction of 2014 a celebration! We want to rejoice in Renee’s recovery! We want to increase hope and strength in women who are fighting this battle as well as raise funds! We are proud to say that in the previous two years we have raised nearly $14,000! Pink Tutus for a Cure needs your help to make this year’s silent auction the biggest and most fun yet!
