Dear UW-Platteville students and community at university and far away,
Your love and friendship has always made us feel like we are in our home far away from home. Your friendship and brotherhood has been helping us building our identity. We have shared so much together, and those memories will last till eternity, whoever we are and wherever we are. We are overwhelmed by your concern, prayers and love for Nepal and Nepalese people at this terrible moment.
The afternoon of 25 April was the most catastrophic moment for Nepal. In less than one minute, the lives of thousands of people changed! In one minute, families lost loved ones! In one minute, children were crying looking for their parents; some trapped and some were left orphaned! In less than one minute, homes were reduced to rubble. In one minute, businesses were gone and so too family income and jobs. And it took less than one minute! The ancient monuments, temples, monasteries and churches were laid down to debris. The earthquake of 7.5 magnitude took away everything from us.
In light of this, we would like to extend our hands for your collaboration and support to help those victims. Even a single penny counts. Even if we could buy a candy for a child who has lost his parents in the devastating earthquake will be greatness of humanity. It is our hope that you will support us in the long standing Pioneers spirit of charity and service. All the funds collected will directly deposit to Red Cross Society, Nepal Earthquake Relief Fund, one of the most actively working organization in those affected areas for immediate assistance.
It may take years to overcome this tragedy, and it will take years to rebuild the nation. Your generosity and kindness will be invaluable to Nepal, and those Nepali.
P.S. Please be sure to opt out of the optional processing fee or other additional charges suggested by the site. This account has been set up such that the Red Cross receives the maximum possible amount of our donations.
