Piper Ann Lowery passed away at the age of 12 years old on January 16, 2016 from complications from Influenza A H1N1. She had bee ne to the doctor Tuesday, Thursday and Friday that week. She was prescribed Tamiflu on Tuesday and was worsening by Thursday with leg pain, side pain and was breathing harder. Thursday she went back to urgent care with clear xray of her lungs, they were still concerned about pneumonia so they prescribed an antibiotic. Friday she went to her regular doctor for refills on her asthma medication. Her breathing was heavy, respiratory rate was counted and was not high enough to send her to the hospital. Friday night was rough, but her fever finally broke, her highest temperature was 105.5. Saturday morning she said her stomach hurt, then thru up blood clots. At that point I told her we were going to Mary Bridge hospital. She waa worried they would put an IV in her arm, I told her not to worry they would just check her out. Her legs hurt her to bad so my husband carried her down stairs and out to the car. We talked the whole way to Tacoma, just like normal. Once I parked at the hospital I got out and went around to her side, she had gotten out. She stood there and said Oooh Mama and collapsed in my arms. I screamed for help. My husband was going to shower and come there. These strangers ran down to.le and lifted Piper off of me, she had blood coming out of her nose. They carried her in , as we ran to the ER. They worked on our daughter for over 3 hours until there was no more. I saw her go to the Lord, he was right there beside her head. When they announced the time she passed , I just wanted to hold me daughter. I layed in that bed with her for 3 hours. My little girl was gone.
