Pit Bull Man
Organized by: Aimee Barrett-Battle
Tori, a father of 8 children worked 3 jobs to care for himself, his family, and many Pit Bulls. While working in concrete for the city in he lived in, Tori suffered an injury to his shoulder. This condition prevents him from lifting his arms beyond a certain point and holding items as heavy as a 5lb bag of sugar. The city sent him to get surgery from a doctor in their network. The condition didn't get better, it got worse. Tori was told that he would be released from employment via disability. While waiting on the disability decision, a job he qualified for became open with the city that didn't require him to lift any weight or use his arms excessively. The city advised him that he could not apply to the position due to their decision to grant him disability. Someone else applied and got the job. Tori was then told that the city was not going to grant him the disability and he had until November 2013 to find a job within the city's municipal positions or he would be "let go." No other position became open that would not make his condition worse that he qualified for. The city terminated his employment. He has been fighting every since to receive workman's compensation, retirement, or disability. Tori has children, a wife that works, a home, birds, and Pit Bulls that he must care for on zero funds, while his lawyers and the city drag their feet. He had cared for animals all his life. Tori would rescue any stray animal (and has done so since adolescence), take them home to recuperate and make them well again. He has full custody of 4 of his 8 kids and has worked 3 jobs while going to college until this medical emergency came about. Tori has an enlarged heart, congestive heart failure, a degenerative disk disorder in his spine, diabetes, and high blood pressure. He suffered a stroke December 2014 and recently developed a condition in which it is hard for him to breathe. He has to have surgery on his throat as well as his shoulders. His mortgage is behind now, medical bills are pilling up, and he, his family, and his animals still need care. Please help with any donations to help him to continue to care for his loved ones as he fights to keep his health stable.
