I have been a Board member for Pitch In For Baseball for nearly two years, because of my passion for the sport and desire to help provide opportunities for children. Pitch In For Baseball was founded shortly after Hurricane Katrina devastated the Gulf Coast. Our very first projects helped rebuild Little Leagues in Louisiana and helped restore some normalcy for the children amidst the chaos. Disaster Relief remains core to our mission. We know that there are thousands of children in Houston who will not be able to have a season. Budget dollars will be prioritized on supporting basic needs (as they should be), but kids will be the ones to suffer.
I have seen firsthand the destruction, pitching in to help friends and neighbors slowly piece their lives back together, looking for ways to restore some normalcy. In times of tragedy, children are often lost in the mix – adults will be bearing the stresses working through claims, trying to figure out how to make ends meet, attempting to make sense of it all, which impacts the entire family. Please joing me in helping Houston area children get back on the field, to help them reconnect with friends and family, and to give them a few moments to escape the chaos.
