EVENT: Pittsburgh Marathon 2016
EVENT DATE: May 01, 2016
Hello Friends and Family -
I'm training to run for the fourth consecutive year in the Pittsburgh UPMC Health Plan Half Marathon. For the second year, I'm running to support the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank.
Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank, a member of Feeding America, is a not-for-profit organization founded in 1980 that distributes more than 29 million meals annually throughout a network that exceeds 400 member agencies across 11 counties in South-western Pennsylvania.
Our mission is to feed people in need and mobilize our community to eliminate hunger. Our vision is a hunger-free southwestern Pennsylvania. I'm a dedicated supporter and volunteer for the GPCFB. I've seen up close how hard the Staff and volunteers work - such as assembling thousands of "Senior Boxes" that provide monthly boxes of pantry items to low-income seniors, to donating nutritious food for a Backpack Feeding Program that provides weekend meals to Pittsburgh Public School students in need, to the weekly "Produce for People" distributions. These are just a few examples of the impact that the GPCFB has in fighting hunger throughout Southwestern PA.
This year I am setting a goal of $800 - this amount will enable the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank to provide 4,000 meals.
I would truly appreciate your help so I can reach this goal! If you have any questions about the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank, please visit the website at: https://www.pittsburghfoodbank.org/
Thank you for your consideration!
