BENEFITING: Cancer Research Institute, Inc.
EVENT: Pittsburgh Marathon 2016
EVENT DATE: May 01, 2016
We are a group of friends running the Pittsburgh Marathon Relay on May 1st to raise money for cutting-edge research on cancer immunology and immunotherapy at the Cancer Research Institute. CRI is listed as a top-rated charity on Charity Watch, Guidestar, and Charity Navigator.
That means nearly all the money donated goes directly to cancer research - which is critical to us as we all have been affected by cancer. Leslie Horton said that she wants to contribute to research in honor of loved ones battling cancer, like her Dad, and lost to cancer, like her Uncle. Amanda Clark said she is running for the CRI because, as a cancer researcher herself, she is keenly aware of the valuable and cutting-edge therapeutic research this organisation is funding. Angie Jasper said she feels the way to fight cancer is through research that leads to a greater understanding of our bodies, identifying prevention tactics, and improving treatment options. Robert Jackson said that he’s running in memory of his Aunt Sharon, who taught him that love is unconditional and unapologetic. Judith Morgan said that she is excited to race with friends and raise money for a charity that has the potential to touch many lives.
Given that 1 in 3 women and 1 in 2 men in the US will have cancer during their lifetimes, all of our lives could be affected by these new cures and improved treatments. Please join us in supporting this cause!
