P.J. Day's Next Book
Organized by: P.J. Day
Hi there! I'm P.J. Day and I'm the author of Musings of a Postmodern Vampire, The Sunset Prophecy and Mercy's Magic. I'm currently knee deep into three more novels: The Last Rhino, Exile of a Postmodern Vampire and California Witch. In 2013, with my first two books selling strongly, I took the plunge to becoming a full time writer. I quit my job in technology sales, and started writing full time about rich, supernatural worlds and how they affect the human condition. I don't regret my choice one bit. The rigors of running your own publishing business, as well as the creative process has taught so much about life, myself, and the sacrifices it takes to run a successful business. Although there have been a lot of rough patches along the way, it's made me stronger and more resilient, and has made me respect the creative process even more. But just like in my stories, my own plot thickened. Soon after my family welcomed our second baby, we lost our condo to a nasty mold infestation, our furniture, our quality of life, and of course my work space. I was fortunate enough to be taken in by friends and family, but for 5 months I had to resort to coffee shops and libraries for my work space, as well as driving my kids 20 miles to school everyday. As a result of the tumultuous circumstances thrust upon me, the commitment to my work suffered, as did the pace my work deserved which gave it the best chance at creative and monetary success. I have since found other means of income through flexible employment...but my dream of writing and creating and publishing are still there, and it's burning bright. However, with the expenses of my current lawsuit and the debt incurred in starting over and rebuilding life for my wife and children, and the time and money required so I can finish my work without distraction and within a reasonable time frame, has been extremely fleeting. With your funding, I can find the time and resources to produce my next full-length novel--perhaps many other novels, and build upon the foundation of work I already have.
