I am the principal of Sierra Foothills Academy, a school serving students with special needs. My school includes students with with a variety of disabilities including: autism, Down syndrome, intellectual disability, Angelman's syndrome, other health impairment, emotional disturbance, DiGeorge syndrome, and more. My school is rather small, currently serving approximately 30 students. Although students are provided with meaningful experiences through education, behavioral training, community-based instruction, and enrichment activities, we are lacking a playground that is conducive to the physical needs of our students. The school is in need of the following equipment: swings, balance beams, tunnels, and sensory movement equipment.
