BENEFITING: Tourette Association of America
EVENT DATE: Aug 27, 2015
Hi, I'm Mike Story (Coach Mike) and I am a professional tennis coach, forever stoked surfer and musician.
Just over a few years ago my son Jack was diagnosed with Tourette Syndrome. After first accepting the challenges of understanding the disorder to treating and living with it - I feel it's now time for me to give back by becoming an advocate for awareness, education and research not only for TS, but for all neurological disorders that impact so many lives throughout the world.
Through my passion for people, tennis, surfing and music, I created a concept called "Play, Jam, Share". It's still in its infancy and I'm open to ideas so feel free to drop me a line with your thoughts and feedback at email@example.com
This Thursday, August 27th at 8pm, my amazing friends and music mentors are putting on our first fundraising concert at Still Water in Dana Point. So come out an enjoy the free show, dance a little or a lot and give back.
What Is Tourettes: Gilles de la Tourette syndrome (Tourette Syndrome or TS) is a neurological disorder which becomes evident in early childhood or adolescence. The first symptoms usually are involuntary movements (tics) of the face, arms, limbs or trunk. These tics are frequent, repetitive and rapid. The most common first symptom is a facial tic (eye blink, nose twitch, grimace), and is replaced or added to by other tics of the neck, trunk, and limbs.

The Tourette Association of America funds research that will ultimately find the cause of and cure for TS and, at the same time, lead to improved medications and treatments. The goal for the TAOA's research program is to support investigators from all areas of science who can contribute to the understanding of the genetics, pathogenesis, pathophysiology and the treatment of TS.
