Please help my mother through the hardest time of her life
Organized by: Misty Saam
On July 3rd my 35-year-old brother suffered a massive stroke caused by an infection that became septic and traveled to his heart, lungs, and brain. He was in a coma for three days and upon waking up we learned the extent of the damage that the stroke had caused. He Will have to relearn how to walk, talk, write, along with everything else it takes just to get through the day. Our mother whom is a single, hard-working woman has been by his side day and night since the first night he was admitted into the hospital. My brother's condition is improving a little everyday since he's been awake in part because of the love and support that my mom has been able to offer him by being by his side. He is expected to be in the hospital for at least a couple more weeks and a rehabilitation center for one month after that and from there possibly a skilled nursing facility. As any parent can imagine, watching your child, at any age go through such a Traumatic illness is devastating. It has only been a week since the stroke occurred and because of bills and financial obligations that my mom has to fulfill, she is forced to go back to work tomorrow. Her place of employment offers FMLA which would Secure her position for up to 16 weeks so that she could continue to be by my bothers side, however she would not be paid for the time off. She has no PTO or vacation available to her at this time because she had to use her annual time off to undergo surgery earlier this year. My mother raised my two brothers and me completely on her own, she never asked anyone for anything, at times she would work three jobs to support us. Because I know that my mother would still never ask for help I'm asking for her, I want her to be able to concentrate on being there for my brother without the stress and burden of worrying about how her bills are going to be paid for the next few weeks. We are very grateful for all of the love and support and Prayers we have received from friends and family through this entire nightmare. And any contribution would be appreciated more than words can even express. Thank you all again and please continue to keep my brother and my mother in you prayers.
