On October 28, 2002, Caleb suffered a traumatic eye injury with scissors which left him blind in his left eye. He clipped the center of his eye with scissors which caused horrific damage which led to 13 reconstruction surgeries, and damaged his cornea so badly he would need a transplant. He would also be left with cataracts and glaucoma at the age of 2. At 4, he finally received a donor, and had been givien a tiny bit of vision back with years of vision therapy.
Recently, Caleb's transplant began to fail, and despite our best efforts, he needed to have another corneal transplant immediately in order to help save his eye from infection, and aslo to try and give him a chance at regaining vision.
Unfortunately, the cost of everything is quickly spiraling out of control. The road ahead is uncertain, so we are trying to raise the money we need to cover medical expenses that our insurance doesn't cover, travel to specialists, and any other expense we have which will help us be able to give Caleb the best chance possible at regaining his sight. With a new transplant, he can have a special contact made to help him regain vision once the transplant is healed as well. We have made all the arrangments we can to try and stay ahead, but with only one of us being able to work-things are definitely a struggle.
Caleb is only 13, and full of life and love for everyone around him. Despite everything, he remains positive that everything will work out in the end. Please help us in making sure he can receive the care he needs, and the possibility of regaining his sight back. Any donations are greatly appreciated!! If all you can do is share this with friends and family, that is more than enough!! Thank you!
