PLEASE HELP ME SAVE SQUIRT & PEANUT!
Organized by: Claudia Aguilar
Squirt & Peanut arrived separately as strays at Chicago Animal Care & Control. These tiny babies were each all alone in their respective cages & their chances for survival were slim. Kittens quickly succumb to illnesses at places like CACC and both were becoming sick just days after arriving. When I saw they were due to be euthanized, I reached out to Jenny Schlueter at Tree House and asked what I could do. We worked together to transfer them to my care until Tree House has room to take them in. Unfortunately, when I picked them up it was clear they were both much sicker than expected and I rushed them straight to the vet.
Peanut is only 4 weeks old, had fleas and an Upper Respiratory Infection. He is stable but requires 3 medications to get better. I took him home gave him a bath, food and his meds.
Squirt is 5-6 weeks old and has not been so lucky. She was running a very high fever and was extremely weak with runny eyes, a runny nose, diarrhea and fleas. I left her at the animal hospital for overnight care but today she is not doing much better. She will have to stay another night.
Squirt has also had tests, an x-ray, an oxygen treatment and several IVs. As of this afternoon the total for their care is almost $1000. I was not prepared to take on a bill this high, but I couldn't fail these babies who deserve a second chance. I will post images of the bills when I pick up Squirt. Fingers crossed they both pull through.
