Help Us Save Our Home
Organized by: Dominic Panos
Our story begins in July 2010 when my wife and I purchased our first home in Coram, NY. Four months after purchase I was laid off from my job. My wife would commute to her job from Coram, NY to Yonkers, NY, a round trip of over four hours. I was receiving unemployment, and actively looking for work. After a year I was still looking for work. My friend who has a home improvement business heard of my situation and could only hire me on a part time basis paying $10.00 an hour. We struggled to pay our bills and had to cash in both our 401k's, pawn our jewelry, depleted our savings (including tax returns), and borrowed alot of money from my wife's family. In 2012, my wife got laid off from her job. We both eventually did find full time jobs, however it was not in our respective fields, but with the 7-11 corporation. Unfortunately, the company transferred us to stores so far away from our home that we were spending nearly a weeks pay on fuel costs, and we struggled to pay all our bills. So here you have a catch22, where you're both working full time jobs, but still not making enough to pay your bills. Our current situation is that we're both unemployed and working very hard to find jobs, and we're three months behind on our mortgage. Please Help Us Save Our Home. Thank you to all the donators.
