The Plymouth Family YMCA strives to help children, individuals, and families develop healthy lifestyles, creating a healthier, more active community in which we live and work. Your contribution to the Strong Kids Campaign makes it possible for children and teens to participate in these activities that teach them positive behaviors and encourage them to practice the art and science of healthy living. Your contribution will support:
- Girls on the Run: This extraordinary program combines a message of healthy lifestyle choices with the physical fitness of running for girls in grades 3- 5. The Plymouth YMCA has a Girls on the Run program in almost every elementary school in the Plymouth/Canton school district and provides programming for over 650 girls every year. $110 supports one young lady to participate in the 20-session program, helping her to make healthy choices during her pre-teen years.
- Day Camp: Our summer day camp program offers children the opportunity to participate in many physical and outdoor activities during the summer months, in a safe, nurturing environment. All day camp kids participate in swimming, outdoor games, outdoor hikes, field trips, and "Fitness Fridays." $150 provides a week of camp for a child, getting them outside and active during their out-of-school breaks.
- Youth Volunteer Corps: This service-learning program provides teens in grades 6 - 12 the opportunity to serve the community while learning more about the world around them. Not only does YVC provide service opportunities for teens, but it keeps them active - projects typically provide 3-5 hours of physical activity. Through this program, teens learn that they, too, have a meaningful role in keeping our community healthy, and that they can be leaders even at a young age. Your gift of $100 will provide leadership and transportation for one service-learning activity for 13 teens.
