THE STORY:

Stephanie Sanders wrote -

One of my goals, personally and as the publisher of Massachusetts Horse, is to give back to our equestrian community. I do this in many ways, such as giving more than 2,000 Junior Horsemanship Awards to events in the Bay State; donating lifetime subscriptions to all public libraries in Massachusetts; partnering with the state’s horse clubs and associations whose members receive a free subscription; and, in every issue publishing a Lend a Hoof feature that profiles a local nonprofit organization that needs our help.

The annual benefit is just another way I give back. Each year, proceeds go to a nonprofit equestrian or equine-rescue organization. This year I'm proud to honor the mission of the MSPCA at Nevins Farm, in Methuen.

The MSPCA receives no state or federal funds and is dependent upon the support of individuals who share its goals. The MSPCA’s mission is to protect animals, relieve their suffering, advance their health and welfare, prevent cruelty, and work for a just and compassionate society. The MSPCA is not operated by any national humane organization. It was founded in 1868 by George T. Angell and has been an independent nonprofit organization ever since. No umbrella organization manages the MSPCA in any way. The MSPCA is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization. All donations will go specifically to the equines in the care of the MSPCA at Nevins Farm.   The MSPCA at Nevins Farm is an open admission facility meaning they never turn away an animal that needs help, regardless of its age, health, or behavior.

The Adventure Trail is a combination hunter pace, timed obstacle course, and a horsemanship-knowledge quiz. Participants enter one, two, or all three events.

The Massachusetts Horse Benefit began in 2005 to raise money for the Children’s Equitation Center. Since then, the event has raised more than $60,500 for Bay State equine-related nonprofits.

Your support/donation means the world to me and to the at risk horses in the Bay State. Thank you!
