While it is exciting to be hosting a poetry slam, it is important to recognize the real issue at hand. The people of Haiti are in constant need of fresh water, food, and medicine. They have seen quite a few natural disasters in the past few years. The country faced an earthquake in January of 2010, hurricanes, a widespread epidemic of cholera, general public health concerns, and political instability. 78% of Haitians live on less than $2 USD per day. It is up to us to help. We have teamed up with Smith Juste and Roubens Venet, two people from the town of Buvette to help make a difference.
