BENEFITING: Aquinas College, Inc.
The POHI (Physical and Other Health Impairment Education) class of 2015 is group of five students from Aquinas College studying to be teachers of motor impaired children and adults using the methodology of Conductive Education. Conductive Education was founded in Budapest, Hungary in the 1940s by Dr. András Pető and is a holistic educational approach to enabling children and adults who are physically impaired to become as independent as possible. This group is fund-raising to go to the Pető Institute in Budapest, Hungary in order to further their studies and be able to view programs that are not currently available for them to see and learn from in the United States and to network with future colleagues. The money raised will go towards the cost of their travel, housing, food and other expenses that are encountered over the two weeks they will be in Hungary.
