Two Summers Ago we met the Daraja girls when we visited Kenya- this is a school that provides a free high school education for amazing, gifted and academically motivated girls who would not otherwise have the chance to continue in school! My family and I went to teach about healthcare, HIV awareness and careers in medicine- but left with so much more than we had given. It was inspiring to hear about girls from small villages whose dreams were so large that they are going to change the world. At Daraja I met the bravest person in the world- Edith- who taught me about quiet strength and grace. I am going to race for her. Each year the Daraja girls run their own Bay to Breakers race in Kenya because they can't all come to San Francisco. I will be in Bend, Oregon running (and skiing and biking and kayaking) for the pole peddle paddle. It is a wonderful suffer-fest of running up a ski slope in ski boots, skiing down, cross country skiing 5 miles, biking 20 miles down from Mt. Bachelor to the town of Bend, 5 mile run along the beautiful Deschutes River, 2 miles of paddling on the river and finally a 1/3 mile sprint to the finish line!I It is literally on the same day as the Bay to Breakers- so I will be racing in Oregon for Daraja. Hope you will join me in raising money for this amazing school which is shaping the future for girls in Kenya- and changing the world one education at a time. Thanks for your contribution to Daraja Academy. jeff
