9/11, a day that changed this nation forever. The terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001 caused approximately 1,000 deaths of First Responders than any other single incident in American history. 71 officers were killed when the two World Trade Center buildings collapsed in New York City. Dozens more have passed away in the years following 2001 as the direct result of illnesses contracted while working in the hazardous conditions immediately following the attacks in New York. Over 350 Firefighters and paramedics combined lost their lives and 3,031 military personel since the beginning of the war. Let's let their voices be heard. " History has taught us over and over again that freedom is not free. When push comes to shove, the ultimate protectors of freedom and liberty are the brave men and women of First Responders and our armed forces. Throughout our history, they've answered the call in bravery and sacrifice."
