Team Member: Alyssa Murphy
Event Name: Polly's Run
EVENT DATE May 30, 2015
I am participating in Polly's Run in honor of my father, Dino Murphy, who passed away of Pancreatic Cancer in 2010.
Since his passing, much has happened in our family and without funding, research, and amazing scientific advancements in diagnosis and treatment, our family would have likely suffered more deaths. Thankfully people, like you, contribute to causes such as Polly's Run, which make donations to Pancreatic Cancer Action Network to help continue valuable research and hopefully one day find a cure to Pancreatic Cancer.
Here are some Pancreatic Cancer stats:
"The American Cancer Society’s most recent estimates for pancreatic cancer in the United States are for 2015:
About 48,960 people will be diagnosed with pancreatic cancer
About 40,560 people will die of pancreatic cancer
Pancreatic cancer accounts for about 3% of all cancers in the US, and accounts for about 7% of cancer deaths.
The average lifetime risk of developing pancreatic cancer is about 1 in 67 (1.5%)."

Pancreatic cancer is not the most common cancer and therefore is often overlooked and needs more attention to raise awareness and funding.
Together we can make a difference to end cancer and live healthier, longer lives. Please donate to this cause.
