Pondicherry India Hurricane Recovery
Organized by: Jeremy Hansen
Recently South India has experienced incredible torrential rains that have flooded many of the regions most populous cities including Pondicherry, in Tamil Nadu. Pondicherry has a long history of religious tolerance, and once colonized by the French, who left Christianity and beautiful churches throughout the region where Christianity flourishes today. The flooding is horrific and has killed hundreds. Its been raining for days with no end in site. Ten's of thousands of households are without power and potable water. The situation is appalling and help is needed. Children are without drinking water and mosquito levels are increasing to dangerous levels and likely to infect children and adults. Homes are filled with black water several feet deep in areas, and once the waters recede only sewage waste and polluted mud will remain. Homes will be destroyed and families displaced. Please help us raise money to help Pondicherry. Your financial support will go to getting people like Srinivasan Kanniappan and his family back on their feet. Mr. Kanniappan was married just three years ago and he and his wife were blessed with their first child just over a year ago. In addition to Mr. Kanniappan, monies will be distributed through local churches to triage the emergency in the immediate aftermath. Please help this humanitarian cause, every donated dollar will go a long way to helping children and desperate families.
