Mpopongi Primary School
Organized by: Daphne Pariser
Mpopongi Primary school is located in Narok, Kenya with 550 students in attendance. The school has existed for 16 years and teaches in English. Due to the arid climate in Narok the difficulty of daily life is elevated. My partners Angela and Lynn visited Kenya on a trip, where David Kasura was their guide. They were able to visit Mpopongi with David and upon viewing the conditions of the school promised David aid. Currently, there is no flowing water to this school and the closest well is 2-3 miles away, making for a tough journey when water is needed. Currently pipes are being installed from this well to the school but a filter is necessary to have safe and clean drinking water for these children and teachers. The water filter will cost approximately $500 (including shipping to Africa). On top of this we need a dinning hall with appropriate shading and equipment for cooking. As well, there is a need for an extra classroom so 90 more students will be able to attend school.
