My name is Matthew Weaver, I serve in the US Army as an Infantryman, I currently reside in Afghanistan; one month of our nine month tour wrapped up.

Here's my/our story,
My wife, Rachel, and I were married January 18 of 2013. I actually snuck away one weekend 1200 miles just for us to be married since I was denied leave. She's the most amazing person I've ever met in my entire life, and I'm the most blessed man on Earth to have an angel like her say "yes" and then "I do". September of the same year we were blessed with the most amazing thing, our son, Kayden.

Because of my hectic work schedule, and now this deployment, we never had an opportunity to have any kind of honeymoon. Or even a really nice weekend away actually, I was always running around. Most of our money now goes to my wife going to college, car payments, and debt from a young, stupid man thinking credit cards were free money at one point. So it's hard for me to find the money to take my beautiful wife and amazing son out and show them how much they truly mean to me.

I honestly can't believe I'm doing this, I always felt too proud to ever ask or plead for money. I always figured I could just do without rather than have to feel like I'm begging. I just feel like this is more than me. I want nothing more than to take my wife and son to the Smokey Mountains when I get home from deployment and get an opportunity for leave. I would also like nothing more than to purchase my wife a proper wedding set since hers was purchased on a low budget, and my son something special to show him that his 'Dahdah' missed him terribly while he was away.

My wife has never seen the mountains before, and when I was around my son's age my parent's would bring me to the Smokey Mountains and instilled the greatest love for nature. I'd like to recreate some of the pictures from my youth with my adorable son for keepsakes, and hopefully one day he'll be able to keep the trend going.

I intend on using the money for hotel stay, food, something special for my son, and find my wife a ring that is almost as gorgeous as she is to show her how much I absolutely adore how amazing of a mother and a wife she truly is.

The amount of money I truly hope to raise is anything that would help. I could find a way to make a fifth of that work, or just leave something out if needed. All I'm trying to do is give my wife something I always wished I could give her and give our family a week that's not involved with the military. Just kind of forget about everything for a bit and just be a family without worry and fears of me being where I currently am.

I hope you read this in it's entirety, I can be a bit wordy when it comes to explaining things out. I apologize for that. But I thank you regardless of a donation or not, thank you for just reading what I had to say.

On a side note:
Don't forget to hug your families or significant other. I never realized how much I took for granted until I was half a world a way. Just that minute to show them how much they mean to you could mean the everything if you never get the opportunity to do it again.
