BENEFITING: Old Skool Cafe
EVENT DATE: Feb 04, 2017
Summer began with this group of spirited women cheering on our friends as they boxed to literally fight for a cause near and dear to our community's heart. We walked out proud and encouraged- it was time to step up to the ring and join the fight.
While boxing was immediately out of the question, we decided upon a little game of powderpuff football during the greatest of all seasons: Football Season. The competitiveness has taken hold, rosters have been made, coaches have written playbooks, and we are ready to rumble.
The game will be benefiting our friends and local charity Old Skool Cafe. Old Skool Cafe is a one-of-a-kind youth-run supper club. They train and employ at-risk youth, ages 16-22, to run all aspects of the restaurant business as hosts, chefs, servers, and entertainers. They offer youth a solution for addressing their basic needs and break the cycle of poverty and incarceration. In addition, they also provide a supportive environment to help youth maintain employment and restore them to a life of hope and success. Old Skool Cafe graduates have a recidivism rate of 10% vs. the national average of 76%.
How could we pass up the opportunity to join the fight of our local youth in their struggle to break through to a more hopeful future?
Come and watch 20 girls battle it out for guts, glory, and gainz (monetary donational gainz). Then head on over to Soda Popinskis to test the bartending skills of our coaches! All tips will be go to the cause, and the smiles and new friends will last a lifetime.
Game - 12 PM. Saturday, February 4th
Where: Field TBD + then to Bar
