The Cape Cod Marathon will be my first full marathon. I have been training hard and looking forward to meeting my personal goal of completing 26.2 miles. But I also have another goal that is even more important to me: raising as many donations as possible to help patients and their families who are battling pancreatic cancer. I will be running on October 27th 2013 to raise money to benefit Project Purple in memory of Harry Jilson, who fought pancreatic cancer bravely and kept his family laughing with his jokes until his last moments here on Cape Cod this past February.
Harry Jilson was my husband Pat's uncle and Godfather - and his sense of humor, his love for his family, and his generosity will be remembered always.
Project Purple is a 501(c)(3) not for profit organization with a mission of raising awareness and funds towards a cure for Pancreatic Cancer. Pancreatic Cancer is the 4th largest killer of all cancer killers and the least funded of the top 10 cancers. It is also the only cancer in the top 10 killer with a single digit survival rate after 5 years.
Project Purple also provides financial support for patients in treatment for pancreatic cancer at several hospitals in my home state of Connecticut.
Please donate whatever you can to Project Purple and join me in fighting this terrible cancer!
